About

 

Natalie is an illustrator and graphic designer, currently based in the west midlands, England.

 

Art has been her favourite subject ever since she was a young child in school and she has always been told by others that she is creatively talented.

She studied Fine Art and Art Textiles at GCSE level in High School, and she went on to study Art and Design for three years at Heart of Worcestershire College, where she first began to experiment with various traditional and digital creative techniques such as; photography, fashion design, printmaking, painting and graphic design. She then further began to experiment with traditional and digital illustrative techniques during her time at university. she graduated from Hereford College of Arts with a

Bachelor of the Arts (Hons) Illustration degree in 2019.

Since graduating from university, Natalie has been working part-time whilst expanding her creative portfolio, building her social media presence and working on freelance projects.

My Story

​

"For an illustration project, my process usually involves sketching out my ideas either in my sketchbook or digitally, and then colouring and enhancing them digitally using Procreate, with an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, or Adobe Illustrator. I also like to use gouache and acrylic paints sometimes, and experiment with printing techniques such as; Risograph printing, screen printing and lino-cut or stamp printing from time to time.

My Graphic Design process is similar, I like to start with sketches, usually on squared paper, and scan them into Adobe Illustrator and digitally refine them using various tools.

When it comes to my illustrations, I am mostly inspired by nature, surrealism and dreams. I aim to create a dreamy, ethereal feel to my illustrations, whilst also keeping them bold, abstract and fun.

Another source of inspiration for me is new-age spirituality and bohemian ideals.

Social issues such as equality and representation are also significant parts of my work. These are issues that I personally feel passionate about and believe are important in the world, and they tend to pop up quite a lot in my work.

I aim to spread messages of positivity and hope through my illustrations.

 

When it comes to my Graphic Design, my specialities include (but are not limited to); logos, branding and typography. I am inspired by retro, 1970s style typefaces, bold colours and monoline logos. I like to keep my graphics simple, eye-catching and fun."
